Pitch Black Possible SIRs: Giratina Stealing the Spotlight with Darkrai Vibes?

Japan’s Abyss Eye drops in just a few days (May 22), and the hype for English Pitch Black (July 17) is already pitch perfect. We’ve seen the four main Pokemon ex (including those shiny new Mega Evolutions), but the real chase cards ... the Special Illustration Rares (SIRs) ...are where this set could shine brightest. The Confirmed Hits So Far We’ve got early looks at some premium artwork, including a stunning Mega Chandelure SIR that’s giving major spooky, starry-night energy. It’s easily one of the early standouts for collectors. Trainer cards like Gwynn are also popping up in SIR treatment. But the internet is buzzing about something else right now... That Giratina Full Art – Roman Pillars and Legends Arceus Vibes Word is spreading about a Giratina full art (possibly around the /081 mark) featuring classic Roman/Greek-style pillars in the background. This screams Pokémon Legends: Arceus influence - think Distortion World meets ancient ruins, with Giratina looking absolutely menacing....

Mason Miller Closer Relief Pitcher San Diego Padres at Krain Sports

Now let’s talk baseball because Oakland-to-Padres flame-thrower Mason Miller is out here living his best heavy metal life. Dude’s new entrance song is Korn’s “Blind” and it is absolutely ELECTRIC. The second that nu-metal riff hits, the whole stadium knows what’s coming ... a 100+ mph fastball attached to what we’re officially calling the heavy metal arm. The walkout, the energy, the pure dominance… Miller is a closer who doesn’t just pitch, he performs. If you haven’t seen the Petco Park clips yet, go search them up right now. It’s hands down one of the coolest things in MLB right now. Big respect to the guy for leaning all the way into the vibe. Heavy metal forever in the bullpen! 🤘

Jackie Robinson First Base Hit

And because we always do this on the Krain Sport Report – let’s hit some This Day in Sports History:

1947 – Jackie Robinson recorded his first major league hit… a bunt single. Legend status activated on day one.

1951 – Mickey Mantle made his MLB debut with the Yankees. The rest is pure history.

1968 – The Oakland Athletics played their first game at the brand-new Oakland Coliseum. (Mason Miller’s old squad ... full circle vibes today!)

Baseball always delivers the goosebumps on this date.

We’ve also got the usual TCG chaos going on ... Topps Chrome NFL 2025 still getting opened, Pokemon Chaos Rising preorders moving, and the collectibles market is heating up fast. But right now? All eyes (and wallets) are on Las Vegas. WrestleMania 42 plus fresh Topps cards = the ultimate weekend combo!

Who are you most excited to see this weekend? Drop your predictions or favorite match in the comments. Tag a friend who needs to feel this hype. And don’t forget to grab those WWE Blasters and the new WrestleMania Topps NOW set while they’re still available!

Stay hyped, stay collecting, and let’s enjoy the ride.

The Bot Takeover: How Walmart’s Queue Systems (and Others) Are Supercharging Automated Checkout in the TCG and Sports Card World

Hey collectors, if you’ve tried snagging the latest Pokémon TCG drop, One Piece tins, or a fresh Panini/Topps sports card box at Walmart lately, you already know the drill. You refresh the page at drop time, get thrown into a “queue,” wait 10 - 30 minutes… and by the time your spot comes up, everything is sold out. Meanwhile, thousands of units vanish in seconds. Welcome to 2026, where retailer queue systems - supposedly designed to give everyone a fair shot - have instead turned high-demand trading card drops into a bot playground. What started as an anti-scalper tool has become the very reason botting and automated checkout tools are exploding. Let’s break it down. Why Retailers Rolled Out Queue Systems in the First Place Walmart, Target, Pokémon Center, and others introduced virtual queues during massive restocks (think Walmart Wednesday Pokémon drops, Prismatic Evolutions bundles, One Piece OP-13 tins, or Bowman basketball releases). The goal was simple: Slow down the flood of tra...
