Weekly Card Releases Roundup: Topps Daily Drops Dominate, Pokémon TCG Keeps the Momentum – April 27, 2026
Hey collectors! It’s Monday, and that means a fresh wave of cardboard hitting the market. This week is all about Topps keeping things consistent with near-daily releases while Panini stays relatively quiet on the new-product front. On the Pokémon TCG side, the Mega Evolution series is still very much alive with fresh Ascended Heroes product, Chaos Rising hype is building fast, and we’ve got early looks at what’s coming after that. Let’s break it all down.
Topps Releases This Week (One (or More) Per Day – Exactly as Promised)
Topps is on a roll with a packed calendar that lines up perfectly with their “one per day” vibe for the hobby this week:
Monday, April 27 → 2026 Topps Cosmic Chrome WWE drops at 4:00 PM UTC. Chrome sparkle meets wrestling chaos ... expect big rookie and legend parallels in this one.
Tuesday, April 28 → Topps Merlin Premier League 2026 arrives. Soccer collectors get their fix with the latest Premier League Chrome-style goodness. Pre-orders also kick off today for 2025-26 Topps Signature Class Basketball.
Wednesday, April 29 → Double dip day: 2025 Topps Definitive Baseball and 2026 Topps Chrome Black Baseball both land. Chrome Black is always a hobby favorite for its sleek design and strong rookie class pull rates.
Friday, May 1 → 2025 Topps Chrome Football rounds out the week (pre-order window opens).
Panini is lighter this week - no massive flagship drops like their earlier Prizm USA or Donruss waves... but Panini Donruss Baseball 2026 is scheduled for April 29 according to the broader April calendar. It’s a solid flagship follow-up with Optic inserts and autos, but nothing daily like Topps.
If you’re hunting boxes, Topps is clearly owning the spotlight right now.
Pokémon TCG: Ascended Heroes Still Trucking Along
Fresh off last Thursday (April 24), we got the Mega Evolution - Ascended Heroes Booster Bundles (6 packs each) and the Mega ex Boxes featuring Mega Feraligatr ex, Mega Meganium ex, or Mega Emboar ex. These Wave 4-style drops gave collectors one last big shot at the current expansion before the focus shifts.
The set is still moving strong in the secondary market - booster boxes and singles continue to hold value nicely, and the Mega ex promos with their lenticular oversize cards are proving popular. No additional Ascended Heroes products have been announced beyond these, so it looks like the expansion has wrapped its main release cycle. It’s been a fun ride with plenty of Mega Evolution heat, and the staggered product rollout kept it relevant for months.
Chaos Rising Talk: Will It Top Perfect Order?
Chaos Rising (the English adaptation of Japan’s Ninja Spinner) drops May 22 with Mega Greninja ex leading the charge. It’s another small-set release (roughly 122 cards), and the community is already deep in the “better than Perfect Order?” debate.
The bullish case: Mega Greninja hype + ninja theme + strong illustration rares could drive better singles performance and sealed demand than Perfect Order’s more peaceful Lumiouse City vibe.
The cautious take: Print runs look similar, and some collectors worry it’ll follow the same “small set, quick cool-off” pattern we saw with the last couple expansions. Reddit and forum chatter is split ... some are calling it a potential upgrade in playability and chase value, others say it’ll land somewhere between Perfect Order and Phantasmal Flames.
Pre-release events run May 9-17, so we’ll know soon enough how the market reacts.
Shadows of the Next Set (After Chaos Rising) – Japan’s Abyss Eye
While Chaos Rising is still a few weeks away, Japan has already dropped the full reveal for the set that follows: Abyss Eye (M5), releasing May 22 in Japan... the exact same day as English Chaos Rising. It stars Mega Darkrai ex and leans hard into dark, shadowy, eclipse-style artwork.
English collectors are already speculating the set name will be Pitch Black (the trademark and early leaks point that way). The dark theme, Mega Darkrai focus, and card reveals line up perfectly with that ominous title. It’s expected to be another compact English release arriving around July 2026. If you love the Mega Evolution series, this one looks like it’ll deliver serious chase energy.
That’s the week in cardboard! Topps is delivering daily heat, Ascended Heroes is closing strong, Chaos Rising is the talk of the town, and Pitch Black (Abyss Eye) is already casting a long shadow. What are you chasing this week - WWE Chrome, Premier League, or loading up on those last Ascended Heroes bundles? Drop your thoughts in the comments and happy collecting!
