Next Week’s Card Releases Roundup (Week of May 4–11, 2026): Topps Pre-Orders Heat Up, Pokémon Pre-Releases Begin, and Market Buzz Builds
Hey collectors! It’s May 3, 2026, and while the big flagship drops are still a couple weeks out, next week is packed with pre-order openings from Topps, the start of Pokémon TCG pre-releases, and plenty of secondary-market movement worth watching. Here’s your one stop summary of everything hitting (or opening for pre-order) in the next seven days across sports cards, Pokémon, and One Piece.
Pokémon TCG: Pre-Releases Kick Off + Ascended Heroes Keeps Climbing
The Mega Evolution era is in full swing, and next week marks the official pre-release window for Mega Evolution: Chaos Rising. Local game stores will host Build & Battle events starting Saturday, May 9, giving players first access to the new set featuring Mega Greninja ex, Mega Floette ex, and more chaotic Mega Evolution ex cards.
The full retail release (ETBs, Booster Boxes, Pokémon Center exclusives, Booster Bundles, Premium Collection with Mega Zygarde ex, and the new Mega Lucario ex League Battle Deck) lands on May 22, but pre-release is your chance to crack packs early and build ahead of the meta.
Market Watch: Mega Evolution: Ascended Heroes (the January 2026 set) is still one of the hottest products of the year. With 295 cards and a staggering 78 secret rares, chase cards like Mega Gengar ex, Pikachu ex, and Mega Dragonite ex continue to climb on the secondary market. If you’re sitting on sealed product or raw hits, the upward trend shows no signs of slowing.
Pitch Black News: Fresh off its official reveal, the next Mega Evolution expansion (Mega Evolution: Pitch Black, July 17 release) is already generating serious hype. Expect more Mega Evolution Pokémon ex (led by Mega Darkrai ex), a leaner ~115-card set, and a fresh batch of Special Illustration Rares (SIRs) that collectors are already speculating about. Shadows, nightmares, and high-end art ... mark your calendars now.
Topps: Heavy Pre-Order Week for Star Wars, Chrome, Football & More
Topps is dropping several pre-order windows early next week - perfect timing if you like to lock in product before it sells out. All times CDT:
Monday, May 4 at 11:00 AM → 2025 Star Wars Masterwork pre-orders open.
Tuesday, May 5 at 11:00 AM → 2025 Topps Chrome Platinum Baseball (mid-tier chrome goodness with strong rookie and refractor chase).
Tuesday, May 5 at 12:00 PM → 2025 Topps Signature Class Football (hobby favorite for on-card autos and NFL rookies).
Wednesday, May 6 at 11:00 AM → 2025 Topps 30 Years of Toy Story (non-sports nostalgia drop—great for collectors who cross over).
Thursday, May 7 at 11:00 AM → 2025-26 Bowman Basketball (prospect-heavy and always a banger for hoops fans).
These are the key “drops” for the week... pre-order fast on Topps.com and your favorite hobby shops.
Panini: Relatively Quiet, But Watch for Mid-Month Momentum
No major Panini street dates land in the May 5–11 window. The next notable releases (Prizm Draft Picks, Select WNBA Hobby cases, and early FIFA World Cup 2026 product) start hitting shelves around May 13 and later.
Use this week to finish up any lingering pre-orders from April or scout the secondary market while supply is still stable.
One Piece TCG: No Major Drops Next Week
The current set (OP-15 Adventure on Kami’s Island) is still very much in circulation after its April 3 global release. The next big one ... OP-16 The Time of Battle (Paramount War theme)... is officially scheduled for June 12, 2026 in English (some Japanese sources mention May 30 availability, but global simultaneous release is June).
No new product hits shelves next week, so it’s a good time to finish building decks from the current wave or hunt reprints if prices have softened.
Quick Final Summary of Next Week’s Card Releases (May 4–11, 2026)
Topps leads the week with several pre-order drops: Star Wars Masterwork on May 4, Chrome Platinum Baseball and Signature Class Football on May 5, 30 Years of Toy Story on May 6, and Bowman Basketball on May 7.
Pokémon TCG sees Chaos Rising pre-releases starting May 9 at local stores (full release May 22 with ETBs, boosters, Mega Zygarde ex Premium Collection, and more). Ascended Heroes sealed and singles keep climbing in value, while Pitch Black (July 17) is generating buzz with its new Mega Darkrai ex and Special Illustration Rares.
Panini is quiet this week with bigger drops arriving mid-to-late May. One Piece TCG has no major releases... OP-16 arrives in June.
